YMCA Surbiton

Situated right on Surbiton’s high street, and next to Sainsbury’s, YMCA in Surbiton is a vibrant community hub that brings together people of all ages and backgrounds.

Children’s activities

Children’s classes and activities at YMCA Surbiton include music and singing, karate, dance and storytelling. They are great for local parents who wants to get to know other families in the area, and for children with lots of energy who want to have fun.

YMCA Surbiton also offers great value children’s parties where you can celebrate birthdays and other occasions.

The after-school club at YMCA Surbiton is conveniently located only a short walk from Surbiton train station, perfect for busy parents who commute into London. Run your errands on the high street, before picking up your child at 6pm.

Health & wellbeing

YMCA Surbiton’s friendly gym  offers range of modern equipment. Choose between the weight and machines section, the cardio section or the functional fitness area for activities that suit you.  Try out a wide range of exercise classes for all levels and interests, including yoga, Pilates, indoor cycling or BODYPUMP.  Take a look at our group exercise timetable and class descriptions and find out what inspires you to get moving.

With the Get Started programme, new joiners to the gym are offered five one-to-one sessions developed to support them get the most out of their training.

If you need an extra motivational boost, our Personal Trainers can customize a training plan for your needs. And after a hard workout, why not treat yourself to a Sports Therapy massage session with our qualified therapists?

We also take referrals to the Get Active Programme: ask your GP for a leaflet about this 12-week exercise programme that offers a series of one-to-one sessions with a qualified exercise specialist.

Social activities

If you are a looking for something to get involved with and great company, you have definitely come to the right place. YMCA Surbiton runs a range of regular social activities and meet-ups including the Lunch Club on the last Friday of every month and weekly coffee and games mornings.

On the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month, our walking group goes for lovely country and city walks.  Plus there is a monthly excursion to places of interest. All depart from the centre at 9.30/10am.

For seniors, there are generous discounts on many activities.


In the spacious and bright café on the ground floor, you can relax after your workout, or meet up with friends for a fresh salad, a hot meal, panini or just a drink.

With every cup of coffee, bowl of homemade soup or salad you enjoy, you support and help fund YMCA LSW’s work with vulnerable local people.

Upcoming events

Every Wednesday at 7pm, the friendly Community Choir, led by West End-performer Katy Treharne, meet in the cafe. They are always looking for new joiners – just pop in, no previous experience needed.

Release counselling

Based at the ground floor of YMCA Surbiton, Release Counselling is offering professional and affordable counselling for individuals, families and couples.

Accommodation and support

The hostel at YMCA Surbiton has 110 bed spaces, and takes referrals from the Royal Borough of Kingston and the Kingston Churches Action on Homelessness.

Whilst staying at YMCA Surbiton, our residents are offered close support from a highly qualified Housing and Support Team.

A major refurbishment project is taking place at YMCA Surbiton, which will provide en-suite facilities for all bedrooms and shared kitchens on the hostel floors, enabling residents to cook for themselves. Also windows will be replaced and more efficient gas boilers installed, and six new rooms will be added to the top floor.

Parking and directions

It’s easy to get to YMCA Surbiton with local buses and train. There is no parking at YMCA Surbiton, however users can park in Sainsbury’s next door for up to two hours.
